Clouds of Sils Maria director Olivier Assayas mentioned working with Kristen Stewart in an interview with DP/30's David Poland.

Floating above Cannes 2014 was Olivier Assayas meditation on aging, celebrity, self-perception, and life itself. Inspired by the film's lead, Juliette Binoche, Assayas crafted a screenplay that would draw in Kristen Stewart and then, Chloe Moretz, all playing meta-versions of themselves or those around them.
