David Cronenberg's satirical portrait of Los Angeles dark side is like nothing else. In a winding gallery of prisoners he dreams of fame and fortune by, among other things, a personal assistant in Hollywood and a failed screenwriter who subsist as a limousine driver in a portrait of a culture in which it is only the polished surface that counts.
