#WritingTheFuture: My Experience in Atlantic City for @copelandband and @paramore

My first time in Atlantic City, NJ was amazing! I went with my two friends Angela and Alyssa, and my mother. We all went to see Paramore and Copeland for their Writing the Future tour at the Borgata Casino and Spa at the Event Center. At first, I thought we were going to be late because I wanted to get the "Writing the Future" signs a fan named Roxy was passing out for the audience to hold up during "Future", but as long as we made it to the actual show, it was fine.

When we got to the Borgata, I couldn't believe my eyes at how huge the place was! The hotel alone had its own floor, filled with a bar, casino, slot machines, a pool, all sorts of concoctions for entertainment. My friends and I got lost on the way to the Events Center, but we found the right room for the show. The Events Center was a Standing Room Only; there were no seats. Most of the audience were of Paramore fans, wearing T-shirts, necklaces and heavy makeup, which made me really excited. I wore the 3-barred floral muscle shirt, while my friends wore regular clothing--- jeans, jackets, sweaters, the works of people who knew the band, but didn't consider themselves "superfans".

Copeland were the opening band, and they played really well. I didn't know any songs by them, but being that they were good friends of Paramore--- Paramore even opened up for them when they first started out back in 2005---I had a feeling they would be pretty great. Their music felt very calming and soothing, almost put the audience in a sort of trancelike state. I especially liked their song "Chin Up".

Then, Paramore came on!! This was my second time watching them play live, and they made every second count within those two hours. They were actually supposed to play for only an hour and thirty minutes, but it got extended to two, due to their epic encore of "Future".

Hayley looked and sounded fantastic; Jeremy looked adorable in his bowtie outfit. I could actually see the most of Jeremy, since I was standing to the far left to where he was on stage. I don't think he saw me though lol. I could see some of Taylor's bouncy curls headbanging to all the fast songs on the far right, but for the most of the show, I had to stand on my tiptoes to see him.

They played mostly older songs and lesser-known ones from each album, but most of the crowd knew every single song. I know I was screaming the lyrics as well. My friends knew a few songs, but for the most part, they took enjoyment to watching me scream and shout and take pictures like a little girl lol. Angela knew "Still Into You", and Alyssa loved "Misery Business" as well.

I think the best moments for me during the show were the acoustic segment of "Misguided Ghosts", "The Only Exception", and "Franklin". In between songs, Hayley reminisced of old times when she first met Jeremy and Taylor and his brother Justin in their hometown of Franklin, TN.

Their "Misery Business" performance was really exciting, too. They invited a fan to sing with them, and it reminded me of why I enjoy this band so much; they make sure to create those special moments not just for themselves as they pass by another state, but for the fans, as well. Those moments really are what make a Paramore show so spectacular. The moment really kicked in when they did an encore of "Future"! I taped the beginning of the song, but when the insrumentals pounded into the end, I shut off my phone to really take it in. The music, the drums, the bass, the lights, the atmosphere created such a transcendence into my body, my heart, and my spirit. I felt like my mind was going a million miles an hour by merely watching my favorite band act out with such an immense passion. I felt a sadness when it was all over, but I also felt a sense of pride and joy wash over me.

I have no idea what Paramore are going to do after this tour ends--- write new music, take a break, travel, or something entirely different. Writing the Future was the last tour supporting their current fourth self-titled record, but I know that this will not be the last time I will see them live. I just can't wait to see what happens next.
